This is a picture of my mom’s dog, Clancy. He’s a little goofy, but mostly loveable. I have it on good authority, though, that he’s on probation at daycare and that today is the day of reckoning. Stay tuned for more on that.

So, I need to go into work, but I also want to run some errands. To deal with all of this, I will start my day with a modified Heatherism:* an episode of The Wire.

*When facing a long list of to-dos, or just one, Heather often suggests that one start out with a ten-minute nap. This approach has gotten many of us through troubled times.

OMG! Shout out to Rose, who just had a birthday! Happy birthday, Rose “Natalina” DeLuca! Actually, Natalina has no business being between those quotation marks like that because that is Rose’s middle name. Natalina means “My birthday is always during the Christmas season so people should never forget, though they sometimes do.” Boo, people, boo!

    Coming soon: resolution talk.

No word on Clancy yet. This, despite having to give my mama a ride to and fro work today.

I hope that Clancy can get back into daycare?

I tried to warn you about a good character dying in season two. it is sad, but the game is out there, and it’s either play or get played. you cannot leave. pretty much whatever season I’m watching is the best and most tragic.

Question: when did everyone start wearing their scarves by making a loop in one end and pulling the other end through? did i miss that memo? were we supposed to learn that when we learned about shake a day?

I think Stephanie might have started that trend in law school, but it’s not for me. I like to wear mine by kind of wrapping it around backwards. I feel like that way, it stays on and gives me ultimate warmth.

I just don’t think it’s cool that as soon as he really stands up for himself, he gets taken out. I don’t like this play or get played attitude of yours. I’m just too delicate for this world.

Yes, i’m not sold on that way to wear a scarf, but my mom and sister act likes it’s the only way, but i feel like they just started doing it last year.
i had been wrapping mine around but going forward. i will try this backwards deal.

Happy Birthday Rose! My sister is a natalina herself, and last year i did the ultimate bad natalina thing and combined her birthday and christmas present. oops.

it is a rough game in bodymore, murdaland.

    what is resolution talk?

i’ve got to go clean the house for my lovely houseguests. awesome.

I think you wear yours like I do…I take the scarf so that the tails of it are on my back and the middle of it is around the front of my neck. Then I cross the tails around the back of my neck and bring them forward. I am then secure and warm.

Resolution talk is, you know, like eating a piece of fruit a day. I like that one, by the way, and may steal it.

I’m glad I don’t have houseguests. Though the EsquaredH crew might be fun to have around.

Last night I had to give my mom a ride home from work because Severa was nowhere to be found and my mom’s car wouldn’t start (I also had to give her a ride to work). Anyway, when I got to her office to pick her up, she informed me that we would be giving her coworker a ride, as well. Fine. The co-worker whose name may or may not be Meg is apparently some friend of your neighbors because my mom introduced us saying, “Meg (or Not Meg), Kate’s friends with Heather, you know, the woman you said everyone is always saying is a doctor?”

    Are you really a doctor?!?

  6. 6 omar December 27, 2007 at 3:20 pm

There is a legend in our neighborhood that I am actually a doctor, but don’t believe the hype. I just say it to get respect. As you know, I’m a stick-up artist.

    Here are my resolutions:
    1. No day without fruit.
    2. Wear more make-up.

OK, I already told you those, and one is recycled from last year, so I will think of some more creative ones soon.

Do you want me to call your mom a cab? JK. love her.

  7. 7 Kate and Gracie December 28, 2007 at 4:57 am

Well, it’s getting you some serious props. My mom has even heard the rumor now. And would you please call her a cab, already?

    Happy birthday to Laura!

More fruit, more make-up…I like the more theme. It’s way better than the “lose” or “less” ones peeps are always bandying about. I’m still formulating mine…

I also wear my scarf exactly how kate and gracie describe. I think it’s really the best way to do it if the goal is actually to stay warm. I really am not sure about this whole looping through a hole thing (but I don’t think I like it…)
The main problem though is that is has not been cold all that many times to actually warrant a scarf here in Baltimore so all of my lovely scarves are going to waste! In fact I came to work today without a coat. My hands were slightly cold, but that just gives you an idea that it’s way too warm here.
    Thanks for the birthday wishes!

Wow! Too warm for a scarf in December. In Madison, we’ve pretty much been living in a constant blizzard.

How are the wedding plans? It’s really coming up. Is it weird that I already bought a dress? Don’t answer that. It’s just that there was this super cute dress on sale at JCrew and it was regularly $250 or something and I got it for $75 and it’s a really pretty blue silk. And it just said to me, “Rose really wants you to try to look decent for her wedding and this will help.”

  10. 10 rose January 2, 2008 at 11:20 am

Yes it’s less than 4 months away. I’m not sure the event is really going to happen considering I really haven’t made very much progress. I’ll say this…there will be a place and there will be food. Beyond that…who knows. At this point there are no flowers, no photograpers, no DJs, no ceremony music…nobody has a place to stay. But I’m so glad you got a cute dress! šŸ™‚

Clancy made it throught the day without being kicked out. It’s a day by day thing which as his mom, is quite stressful. Seems to be holding his own but will keep you posted. Send calming thoughts…
