This is from a restaurant in Alma, Wisco. Not that I’ve been there, but I’ve been on the internet and that’s close enough. Go Kate and Gracie! Though I guess the restaurant is actually named after the owners’ moms. Go moms! So, it’s the 29th…Three days until the new year…Anyone have any resolutions they’d like to air? I’ll start. I’d like to eat more fruits and vegetables and I’d like to have a plant that’s mine that I tend to and that grows up happy and healthy. Of course there are a billion other things that I’d like to change about myself, but I think starting with those two (fruits & vegs are one thing, thank you very much) is enough for today.

I’ll get you a plant. Just don’t ask me to watch it. I’m not so good with plants.

Well I have a few resolutions. I’d like to put my one-woman, show up, exercise 4 times a week and book some big job so I never have to bartend again. I woke up late today which does not bode well for the exercise part of my plan. Also I have to go check on some cats and mail some lip gloss to India. What do you think about that?

Maybe you want to start with bamboo? It could also be a reminder for your fav place in Richmond. I actually got a lucky bamboo plant for Christmas from my aunt, which was nice, but that was in CT and I still had to fly back to VA. My cousin is now watching over my lucky bamboo…I hope I still get the luck even though he has the plant.

My secretary gave me a bamboo plant last year, but I killed it. Although, I must say, it didn’t really look that alive when I got it. It did come in a really cute pot, though. Actually, now that I think about it, Gwen may have rescued it. I think she took it home with her. Hmm.

I think maybe I should rethink the plant thing. Maybe just buy fresh flowers more often.

I have a repeat from last year which is “to cook more”, but I feel like now that I’m done with school, I might actually be successful. Another sort of loose resolution is to get my finances in order. Money is so stressful and I just feel like it’s a stress I could eliminate or at least decrease dramatically by simply getting my budget organized. I have given up on plants. We have a spider plant in our kitchen that is basically impossible to kill (and which is so near the faucet that I actually remember to water it now and again), but other than that the plants don’t really survive and then I feel like a horrible person. I have some really old and wilting “fresh” flowers on my dining room table that are really gross so I’m not sure that’s my best bet either.

Cook more. That’s a good one. I should add that, too, if you don’t mind. I was at Trader Joe’s on Monday and wondering how long I could survive on their prepared foods before going crazy. But then I went to the new Sentry and their prepared food section is huge, so I think I can alternate and make it at least until summer. One of the truly terrible things about this divorce is that now I will have to go grocery shopping again. I really hate g.s. On Monday, folks were acting like they were touring an art museum. What’s to look at? Hurry up already! Why would you want to dawdle in a g.s.? I like to get a cart, leave it in a spot, run around the store and get stuff, put it in the cart, run around get more stuff, come back to the cart and check out. This usually works well for me with the exception of one incident about a month ago. I came back to my cart and someone had removed about half of my things and added a bunch of their own. Very odd.

Anyway, Rose, let’s amend the things at your wedding: a place, food & my dress. It’s April 12, yes? Can’t wait. Haven’t been to Asquared in ages. Since Dave’s wedding, I think.

    Good amendment. It’s April 19th!

I also get annoyed with others in the gs. I think it’s the most common place for me to hate on old people (besides in the car of course).

feebutt, you obviously missed the memo that resolutions this year need to start with the word “more.” More cooking, more fruit, more potato chips (what heather declared hers to be on NYE), etc. I suppose more exercise works, more joy in the workforce, etc…But I think we need to focus on the positive. Not that less can’t be positive, but let’s all try to spin it into something nice. I want my friends to make sure they are good to themselves in 2008.

Also, I was thinking about Rose’s resolve about cooking and how she said it was a recycled resolution. Do you guys think that if we try a resolution, say, two years in a row and it doesn’t stick, we should move on? I mean, maybe not with the basics like, be healthy, be kind, etc., but what about things like, “I should cook more”? I like the idea of keeping it on the list, but it also seems like maybe at a certain point it becomes a sign that you’ve *failed,* and that’s not a great feeling even though none of us are failures. Ok, just throwing the idea out there. Not that we should give up, either. Basically, I think I’m just selfishly worrying about my plant resolution and am already rethinking it.

I need to hang more pics, too. And also, one of my resolutions is to take more pics…On that note, here’s something from NYE…
