Well, I certainly did not see this coming. Jerell is not going to fashion week. If they’d auffed Kenley, as I think we all thought they would, this would have been a different Bryant Park. But, they kept her, had them all make collections, brought them back and gave them one more challenge: a bridesmaid’s dress to accompany the wedding dress they had been required to incorporate into their collections. And it turns out, the judges do not like crazy-ass wedding dresses. I really did not like either Korto’s or Jerell’s, but was somewhat surprised to hear the judges echo my opinions. It doesn’t always work that way for me. Although Jerell’s did look pretty messy, I thought Korto’s was actually very unflattering. Don’t get me wrong — I think she’s a brilliant stylist. Maybe the two of them concentrated too much on making a wacky, avant-gardy dress instead of actually thinking wedding is supposed to = pretty. I thought both LeAnne’s and Kenley’s were gorgeous and I adored their bridesmaids’ dresses — though I thought Kenley’s ‘maids dress was too short (and how annoying was it that she acted like LeAnne and Korto copied her with their length). I wouldn’t be surprised if someone ordered their designs from them based on just that episode.
I’m sad to see Jerell go as I think he gave the show such a nice presence. He was so sweet — especially to his clients. I liked that. Kind of the anti-Jeffrey. On the other hand, from the little we saw of it, his collection scared me. I thought the judges might like it, but I thought it was way too over-the-top. All that netting! Again, from the little we saw, I thought LeAnne’s looked the most cohesive and awesome — I loved, LOVED the colors. I know Tim was fawning over Kenley’s painted dress, but I wasn’t a fan. I love simple and clean and that is why I am rooting for LeAnne.
Update: I just looked at PR’s website and am annoyed to see that they have photos from fashion week up with an intro to them reading, “The final six contestants show at Bryant Park.” This strikes me as so disingenuous.
Yeah, that’s completely annoying. I just saw that the two other designers are Suede and Joe. Joe? Really? His designs hadn’t been all that spectacular! And he was so obnoxious. At least Suede, though not exactly my favorite designer either, was humble and sweet.
I was sad to see Jerrell go too. He’s just so sweet and supportive. He was nice to his clients and to whoever he got partnered up with. I just wish he was so into the embellishments. I also wish Kenley wasn’t such a brat. I’m sure she’s had a hard life and there are probably a lot of reasons for her attitude problem but I want someone to come down on her hard. She gets a little criticism and becomes a defensive whiny child, and it’s unacceptable. My mother would never have let me get away with that kind of talking back. And yes, it was SUPER annoying that she implied Leanne and Korto stole her short bridesmaid dress idea. I swear, she is the most narcissistic person I’ve seen in a long time. I just want someone to yell at her “It’s not all about you, Kenley!”
Sorry. She’s just the exact type of person who really gets me.
That should have said “I just wish he wasn’t so in to embellishments.”
Where is everyone today? Working?
Sorry! 🙂 I didn’t watch the episode yet, although I totally looked at slides of the collections a while back so I had a pretty good idea of what was going to happen. Oh, Jerrell. Why all the fishnety stuff? Oh, Joe. I think you might have killed your chance at ever being a real designer with that collection. It was truly hideous. (if you haven’t seen the slides of that, I highly recommend – it was a hoot)
And I am loathe to admit it, but I actually rather enjoyed Kenley’s collection. Her wedding dress was my fave, and I loved the little off-white dress with short sleeves and the diagonal flower row (is that the painted dress?). Leanne’s, though, was the most polished and runway-ish.
Ugh! I’m here. My day ran away from me.
Well. I am also sad to see Jerrell go. His collection was very worrying though, and I had this feeling it was just not going to go over well. Who knows though? What a sweetie.
Korto’s wedding dress disappointed me a lot, but I really do love what she does in general, so I’m happy she’s going.
Kenley is THE most insecure person on the planet. Aaaahhhhh!!! That said, I am very excited about her collection. Based on what she showed Tim and based on her wedding and bridesmaid dresses. Good stuff. She just needs a personality transplant.
And Leeanne. I have to admit that when I saw her collection in Portland I really, really liked it a lot. But I was a bit bored already. I would wear her stuff in a heartbeat, but have to agree with Nina and Michael Kors that it sometimes has this downbeat to it. BUT. Then I saw her wedding dress. OMG! She took this iconic ideal and her own aethetic and meshed them together and the result was perfection. Absolute unique perfection. Now I am thinking that I wasn’t seeing something when she showed Tim in Portland and I am super excited to see her collection too.
ok ok I think I’ll start watching the darn show b/c I think I would actually really like it. I’d love to see those dresses. And plus, then I’d have something interesting to say on your blog besides wondering if you want to go get some cookies.
Hey there, I liked Jerell too, but his collection did seem like a mess (remember how lovable Michael was and he flaked at fashion week too). Does your gmail not work? My message was rejected. This is what I wanted to say:
This is hilarious. Some background: My asst just explained that there is a new phenomena of “rick rolling” where you would try to watch a youtube video and it would be cut off with a notice that you had been “rick rolled”
followed by a rick astley video instead of what you wanted to watch. side
note: after she explained to me what “rick rolling” was, I had to expalin who rick astley was. funnily enough, he came up in conversation a few weeks ago and she had never heard of him and had yet to put it together with rick rolling.

Ok, that was hysterical.
Andrea just got engaged!
Congratulations Andrea!!
I really LOVED Kenley’s designs . . . beautiful wedding dress and bridesmaid dress . . . restored my faith in her talent, if not her personality. But Jerell was my favorite — he’s the perfect, sweet gay friend that every girl needs to have . . . a la Sex in the City!
