We’re here. Aaron’s first trip abroad has been relatively smooth thus far. Knock on wood. After leaving our place Wednesday morning shortly before 10 am, we arrived safely and bleary-eyed at 5 Pembridge Crescent in Notting Hill shortly before 11 am local time. Here’s a pic of the outside of our flat, taken from the handy iPhone seconds before Aaron pointed out we are renting the basement apartment. And about an hour before he told me that while he was mildly proud of me for telling the border protector/passport checker that we were in London on holiday, I had ruined our cover when I stated that we had rented an ‘apartment.’
You will be there for the election results!! Did you bring a copy of your reservation in Malta?? Let me know if you need anything about that from me. How exciting! And a basement apartment sounds grand!
OMG so jealous. Although I know you’re making up the Pembridge Crescent part. But that’s OK. Carry on.
Election! I know. There’s a polling place around the corner! I’m trying to stay up for some results, but am not sure it’s going to happen. Bought The Mirror today, though, which was so fun to read.
So, after we got in today, we took a pausa. Then I showered (shocking, I know) and went out for a walk around Notting Hill, our temporary ‘hood. Aaron rested his weary self, first-time abroader that he is. I was out about an hour and a half and explored Portobello Market and some side streets. It was a beautiful afternoon. I picked up a Brie & tomato sandwich, some antipasto thing, bread and wine for us to enjoy at the apartment as we rest up for tomorrow: For Real Day One.
How exciting and I am sure that your basement flat will be a delight. I hope the two of you have a grand time on your adventure!
Oh, I love Portobello Market! I want that brie and tomato sandwich! And, the iphone camera did a lovely job! I can’t wait to hear the rest!
Sorry about all those exclamation points. I was very excited. Oh, who am I kidding- I still am!
I am soooooo happy for you. Keep the blog rolling.
love it
