Hometown love

I love Madison. I think I’ve made that very clear over the years. While I would not turn down the opportunity to live in Italy, and although I absolutely loved my time in Richmond, and I think it would be neat to live in Milwaukee or San Francisco or Los Angeles (hi, GAOOG!), I know that I am right where I am supposed to be. And I feel pretty strongly that Mollybear is right where she is supposed to be. I love her school, our neighborhood, her future schools, the lakes, the bike trails, the university, the Capitol, the Square, the people, the opportunities and – gasp! – the weather! At least right now.

And then, just when I think I know everything there is to know about our sweet town – afterall, I’m religiously following the public market district and the MadCity Bazaar – I stumble across other things that amazingly cool people are doing and I fall in love with Madison all over again. A couple of months ago, we stumbled upon our neighbors, Madison Circus Space. What? Why wouldn’t our fair town of 200k peeps have a space devoted to the circus arts? Corpus Christi, of similar size, had only one brand of grocery store, but in Madison you can learn how to ride the German Wheel on Sundays just a short walk from our house. And then today I stumbled upon this gift to the community, FEED Kitchens. Aaron had just been saying that he wants to start a Dude’s Stock Cooperative, but wanted a commercial kitchen space to hold the meetings. Well, voila! Fewer than two miles from our house is a space that holds five commercial kitchens available for rent. Could it get any cooler? I know that people often complain that Madison isn’t Milwaukee or Chicago or Minneapolis. And you know what? It’s not. It’s Madison. And I love it.

I love it too. And love that you love it. And that I hope Molly will love it.

Love, love, love!! The feed kitchens idea is so awesome. And you know I’d be all over that circus space. Madison really is the best. 🙂

I would love to see you in the circus space! Having the circus space also explains why we see those German wheels at festivals all over town – I never knew what they were called until I stumbled upon this space.
